BEA P. DEIGH
Another mental day in the office
Welcome to The Brain, Inc., the tiny office that lives inside the head of every living person. In this particular brain, it's Bea P. Deigh's first day on the job, and she's here to make a name for herself.
She occasionally gets knocked off her game by the pesky client she's trying to control, but not to worry - she always gets the last word.
Pulling comedy out of the shared experiences of people diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Bea P. Deigh attempts to demystify the stigma surrounding this deeply misunderstood mental health diagnosis. So grab your DSM5, and let’s get to work.

First performed as a WIP at Golden Goose in 2023 as part of Mountview’s Kaleidoscope Theatre Festival and performed to sell-out audiences at The Pen Theatre in January 2024, Arden Winant pulls from her own experience and therapy journals to help give voice to this deeply misunderstood mental health diagnosis. Borderline Personality Disorder is one of the most stigmatized diagnoses amongst mental health professionals, and that stigma has permeated to the media, arts, and general public at large. ‘BEA P. DEIGH’ hopes to reclaim the narrative through comedy and tragedy and give voice to the individuals who are actually living with this disorder day-to-day. “There is one daily goal for anyone diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder: don’t kill yourself.”
reviews:
‘Bea turns miserable situations into an hour of slapstick stand-up’ - London Pub Theatres ★★★★★. [Nominated for STANDING OVATION AWARDS, 2024]

“[‘Bea P. Deigh’] managed to avoid being a trauma dump by shifting the focus to provide and insight into how the world around us is not shaped for minds that diverge from the norm, and Winant beautifully explores how one can then deal with that disparity.” - West End With Me â‘â‘â‘â‘
“It’s rare to have a theatrical performance change entrenched ideas, but ‘BEA P. DEIGH’, the creator, and protagonist produced a work at times amusing, at times heartrending, and certainly did her subject material - and her condition - justice.” - Audience Review â‘â‘â‘â‘â‘
“A vital and humorous insight into one of the world’s most misunderstood mental health diagnoses.” - A Young(ish) Perspective â‘â‘â‘
