SALT CIRCLE PRODUCTIONS
WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE GOT HERE
Meet the company
The beginning and what we are about
Salt Circle Productions is predominately a theatre company which creates new-writing and fringe theatre. Built on their love of chaos, tragedy and comedy you can find Salt Circle Productions selling their debut show and delving into the farce of everyday life.
We were created over the lockdown of 2020 as two students in London with a love of bizarre comedy and theatre. As a company we try to put the focus on marginalised stories, especially relating with our differing experiences as a queer and gender queer person and as a woman respectively. We draw on our collective experience of isolation, mental health and exclusion to present stories with fully rounded characters that do not patronise nor tokenise these experiences. Moreover, we aim to create “utopias” where people can celebrate their difference without being reduced to their struggles. We believe that whilst productions that focus on obstacles to marginalised groups are important, powerful and needed, by only showing this aspect in mainstream theatre we are reducing people into caricatures of their struggles.
Emily Bradley (she/her) is currently entering her third years, studying drama and theatre arts student at goldsmiths. She’s passionate about the therapeutic elements of performance and wants to complete a MA in drama therapy after she graduates.
